The band "Calathea" was founded in the spring 1999 - and released first demo CD "The Touch of Empty Verse" till the end of 1999. Both critics and fans enjoyed this album very much. The Touch of Empty Verse was followed by second demo album "Wish Thinking" two years later. Both of them were sold completely.

The band had a chance to be performed for many successful live shows - to choose from all - they played as support of Finnish stars HIM in Prague on their completely sold out concert, Calathea shared one stage with Type..O..Negative in Prague and they participated in the biggest european gothic festival "Wave Gothic Treffen 2003" in Leipzig.

The band has a lot of live performances not only in Czech republic but in foreign countries of course (Germany, Austria, Croatia, Poland, Slovakia etc.) Calathea was performing with the artists like HIM, Type O Negative, The 69 Eyes, Feiled, Deathstars, Mortiis, Hevein, T.M. Stevens etc.

The members haven..t changed since the beginning: Lukas Pirkl - guitar, vocals. Jaroslav Holy - keyboards. Pavel Pirkl - drums. In 2004 singer Olga Lounova joined Calathea. In the autumn 2008 the recording of new CD was finished. Join our sites to see all news about new CD!!! .......
